Coppell TV Repair LLC offers a REPAIR SERVICE for your Philips Y-sustain (Y-main) board used in Philips 50PFP5332D/37 and other 50'' plasma TVs using the same Philips plasma panel.
REPAIR SERVICE means that you have to send in your malfunctioning board in order to get it serviced, tested and returned to you.

Failure types and failure symptoms
There are several different reasons for failure of Y-Main in Philips 50PFP5332D/37. There are also several different failure symptoms.
As a rule of thumb this sustain board does not tend to fail on its own, although as time passes and the power components on it continue to age chances are at some point those boards may start massively fail, just like the buffer boards, for example. A few capacitors are known to start bulging, but that rarely is a source of trouble, i.e. other failure occur before the aging capacitors start presenting trouble.
Easily the most common reason for failure of this board is the failure of a buffer board. Buffer boards are the two long boards attached to the side of the Y-Main board and transferring the serial signal passed by the Y-Main to parallel strobes for the display's horizontal matrix.
It is usually the upper buffer board that fails first, shorting out, overloading and ultimately damaging the Y-Main board.
This failure does not typically result in blown fuses on the sustain board.
When that happens one can usually easily see the burnout on the buffer board and sometimes can also see the damages on the Y-Main board. In some rare cases the Y-Main board actually survives the failures.
Once the buffer/Y-Main fail, the TV may refuse to come on or may come on with sound (if on the proper input/channel) , but no image. The Y-Main board may have a little green LED turned on at the lower right corner indicating an error or it may not have it.
If TV does not want to come on at all then disconnecting the Y-Main from the power supply board should reveal if it is the reason for the blockage or not.
The second common reason for failure of this board is failure / problem in the main plasma logic control board.
This one is distinctly different from the above in that it usually causes a whole lot bigger damage on the board - up to the point of not worth repairing because of the time, expenses in materials and risk it involves repairing.
On top of that in such cases not only the Y-main must be repaired/replaced in addition to the two buffers, but the main plasma logic board also needs to be replaced.
A common (though not 100% certain) symptom of that failure is a blown main ceramic fuse 6.3A near the power connector of the sustain.
Typical processing time for the repair is within two business days; if we have any probems that require more time (be it overload or technical problems) we will contact you with an update and request for more time.
We have a fairly high success ratio, but we still do not guarantee success; if we can't get the board to work, though, you will not need to pay.
Presently we do not charge in advance for repair services.
Instead, once the board(s) are received, tested, found to be defective, serviced and tested again to success we send a payment request to the customer.
If something along the process - such as unexpected difficulty or finding a board to be functional - arises we contact the customer via email and/or phone and disscuss options.
Minimal charge / diagnostic fee
If a board arrives and is determined to be functional we charge up to $25 for diagnostic fee.

We ask that the board arrives here in good physical condition and without traces of tampering.
If someone (other than us, that is) has already attempted to service the board then please contact us with a description/pictures and do not directly place an order. We reserve the right to refuse service to boards that have signs of repair attempts.

First, the Y-Main board received must answer the above board condition requirements in order for any of the offerred warranty conditions to remain in power.
Second, because buffers are the most common reason for failure of this board and buffers can easily cause it to fail again we do not offer warranty even on repaired boards unless customer also gets a set of new buffers from us.
You can use your own buffers if you want, that is OK with us, but you should not expect us to repair the board under warrany if you choose to go that route.
Price and availability of our buffers varies, so you may want to contact us prior to sending the board.
We do not sell buffer boards individually for the very same reason - it is very easy to damage them and customers naturally want to pay as little as possible, resulting in common failures due to incomplete or improper repairs of the original damge.
Replacing just one buffer board also qualifies as an improper repair, even if the other buffer is actually still working. The reason is that an old and used buffer board is ready to fail at any time, taking down the Y-main board again.
This is also the reason why we always recommend replacing both buffer boards and with new, not refurbished ones.
This is also the reason why we would only give our standard 90 days warranty on all 3 boards when we know all 3 have been tested and are known to work and the two buffers are new and have long life expectancy.
When we have reasons to believe the main logic board also needs to be replaced we do not actually offer warranty even if the other 3 boards get replaced; this is for the simple reason that we do not sell the main plasma controller. And the reason we do not sell it so that when it needs to be replaced customers know taht we are not just ripping them off by telling them to buy yet another module. They can - and should buy it - but not from us, therefore we do not have motivation to ask them to do it.
